On the first day, your journey begins as we pick you up from your accommodation in Fes and set off toward Merzouga.
Travel through the Middle Atlas Mountains, passing by the charming town of Ifrane and stopping in Azrou, a Berber village nestled in Morocco’s largest cedar forest, where you might spot Barbary macaques.
Continue through the Tizi n’Talghamt Pass to Midelt, then marvel at the dramatic Ziz Gorges and the lush Ziz Valley, pausing for panoramic views. Drive through welcoming Berber villages, reaching Erfoud and Rissani before arriving at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes.
Here, you’ll meet your desert guide and embark on a camel trek across the golden sands to a desert camp, where you’ll spend the night under a blanket of stars.
We’ll meet you at your accommodation in Fes and start travelling to Merzouga via Ifran and Midlet. During this journey you’ll experience glimpses of the Middle Atlas and Highier Atlas mountains. Stopping at Azrou, a Berber village in the middle of the famous cedar forest – the largest in Morocco – where you may well sight Barbarian monkeys. We’ll travel through the Tizi n’ Talghamt Pass to Midelt and along the magnificent Ziz Gorges carved through volcanic rock. Continue along the luxuriant Ziz Valley, stopping for panoramic views along the way. We’ll drive through welcoming Berber villages to Erfoud, and then Rissani, arrive at the edge of the Erg Chebbi dune line to meet your desert guide and camel trek across the sand dunes to sleep under the stars in a deep desert camp.
Wake up early to climb a dune and watch the sunrise light up a desert landscape. Camel back across the dunes to
shower, breakfast and prepare for departure. Return along the same route back to Fes.
